The Season’s Delay

Brrrrr.. March morning chill
Spring is procrastinating
Sun smiles anyway.

feelings, the colors to life
that come and go
and course like streams.

yellows and pinks feel like Spring
during the anthesis
vibrant skies, widened smiles.

low vibrations draw in the blues
that drown in its sadness
of pains and turbulence.

there’s confidence in the toil
orange hues and subtle browns
a harvesting of the soul.

depths of black feed monsters
blinding the mind of hope
and the heart, of righteousness.

but white always reminds me
of the acquaintance with my feelings
and of the peace in letting go.

Have you ever asked yourself, “What is the intention behind ‘competition’?”
Why do people compete against one another? Does competition determine someone’s level of significance? Or is it simply a time to point out someone’s incompetence?

Some people use competitions as a fueling factor – a way to be moved to do better, to be better ….. but, better than who?
Competitions have paved an avenue to become incited and unfortunately, as a time to boast. It has also been used as a time to crassly highlight an opponent’s loss, insinuating that they have some sort of superiority over them. This is where competitions present itself as a time of intimidation. This intimidation can promote unhealthy emulation, as opposed to focusing on enhancing the gifts that have been personally implanted. I see this predicament with egoism painted all over. No human being is better than the next. There will always be someone who does something better than you. That does not mean they are better than you as a person. It just simply shows that they are better equipped or advanced within a certain talent. So, what does this prove? There isn’t an existing being who’s exceptional in everything they do. Ultimately, the only one you should aim to compete with is yourself.

Everyone is blessed with varying gifts and talents. Every person has special seeds planted within, by our Creator. God has been pretty creative in dispersing His beneficence. Embrace that! Our time here on earth, should be a time of discovering these gifts and aiming for excellence with the talents that have been bestowed.
Instead of competing, we should collaborate. We should encourage. The world would be vastly enriched if we’d just come together and bless one another with the gifts we’ve been blessed with.

“If you want to find the real competition, just look in the mirror. After awhile you’ll see your rivals scrambling for second place.”

The Internal Call (Triolet)

the soul always yearns to be known
tugging at cells in your torso
to learn thyself, down to the bone
the soul always yearns to be known
there’s no age considered too grown
it’s the expansion of the mind more so
the soul always yearns to be known
tugging at cells in your torso.
